I blink, and an eternity has passed
As if life itself were ageless
Moving forward at the speed of light
Till it stops, and but a moment has been
For it was that eternity that seemed
Just a flash of time, a mere second.
Now the light surrounds me
Though blinded by it, others are
An understanding, a blessed peace
To ensure sanity, or the lack thereof.
The glow fades, but never leaves the eyes
For only they mirror the soul
Look into them, beyond the facade
Only then, can the truth be seen
In shades of black, blue, brown, grey, green
The core of which never changes
For we are, who we are
Yet we are all the same.
